Don’t be the newbie caught unprepared! If you’re going to spend a time on a boat, these things are going to come in handy:
- Polarized sunglasses
- A weather-appropriate jacket/hoodie
- Sunscreen and rated lip balm
- Boat shoes or light-soled shoes
- Camera
- Waterproof bag (A ziploc will work fine as long as it doesn’t go overboard!)
- Beer (if not provided or requested)
- GoPro (Many of the boats have GoPro mounts.)
- Cash (Tips for the crew are not included. 25-35% is customary.)
- If you are prone to seasickness (or are unsure), it’s best to take something like Dramamine the night before and early the morning of your trip.
Things to leave at the pier:
- Hangover (I learned that the hard way)
- Preconceived expectations (Come with an open mind!)
- Pride (Sometimes the fish aren’t hungry)
